Business Development Director, Biopharmaceutical Industry

Work with the Biopharma division leader to support, establish and grow our client's biopharma business. You will be responsible for new product and business opportunity assessments and strategic relationship development and management to create long-term value for the business segment from customers and markets.

Overview

The Business Development Director will work with the Biopharma division leader to support, establish and grow our client’s biopharma business. You will be responsible for new product and business opportunity assessments and strategic relationship development and management to create long-term value for the business segment from customers and markets.

Location: Greater Philadelphia Area

Duties Include:

  • Support successful product launches by providing strategic guidance, establishing training protocols, and facilitating communications between sales, support, and product management teams
  • Create and drive business development initiatives that support strategic goals, sales revenues, marketing, and business expansion in the Biopharma division
  • Manage new market and application opportunities through landscape mapping, technical feasibility, gap analysis, prioritization matrix, competitive landscape, initial ROI, and value proposition analyses
  • Serve as the voice of the customer to the product development team for product projects, translating customer needs into user requirements, product conceptualization, and product refinement. Lead end-user focus groups to identify design and performance specifications
  • Research and stay up-to-date on competitor capabilities, restrictions, and activities. Identify, develop, and nurture relationships with key influencers and decision-makers
  • Attend key industry conferences to develop an industry presence, represent the company, and understand industry trends and issues
  • Lead by example, be professional, work with integrity and actively promote ethics, milestone, and timeline driven processes across all teams

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM discipline
  • At least 8 years’ experience in a commercial leadership role within the Mass Spec or related instrument industry
  • Demonstrated success in developing product pipeline strategies in the instrumentation market
  • Strong understanding of applications development and analytical workflows
  • Solid technical, business, and strategic acumen
  • Great networker and strategic relationship builder
  • Self-starter, with strong communication skills
  • Up to 40% travel in the US
